For some people, they do feel that way, but for others, it is for more hygenic reasons. I keep mine short because vaginal discharge i get tends to stick to the hairs which is gross, and slightly painful to remove. I personally think people are crazy to completely shave pubic hair regularly, not just because it makes them look like a little kid, but also because it hurts like hell to do it.
